AN INTIMATE LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING AT GILPIN LAKE HOUSE - EMMA + BEN

views over the lake district from Lakehouse at Gilpin

Look at that beautiful Lake District scenery. These two celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary this week after getting married last February at the incredible Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, a Michelin starred hotel and spa in the picturesque Windermere, Lake District. Emma and Ben's wedding was small and intimate with only 6 guests and them and it was just perfect. Emma wore the most individual dress and the wedding was full of beautiful hand made touches including porcelain name place settings. And the cake, well you should have seen the cake. Emma also runs cake making business Cake Creations and her self-made wedding cake did not disappoint! Adorned with carefully sculpted sugar flowers it looked super elegant sat next to its counterpart, a classic Colin the Caterpillar chocolate cake. :)

Ben and Emma tied the knot inside the little boat house in front of the Lake House at Gilpin which was warm and cosy and kitted out with blankets and cushions. It was just big enough to fit the most important people for the ceremony and then it was time for a couple of showery portraits before we headed in to the Gilpin's conservatory overlooking the beautiful Lake District views for a Michelin starred meal which was utterly delicious (thanks chefs!).

Emma's sister Helen had made a slideshow of childhood photos of the couple and arranged for video messages from relatives on the other side of the world and nearly everyone was in tears when Emma's mum Jean got up to make the loveliest speech. What an absolutely lovely day we all had. I'm so happy I got to spend it with you all.
